When I decided I was going to go forward with the Creative Rebel Academy idea, one thing was very clear - it was going to be a community effort.
The thing about communities is-
You don't have to do everything alone. And it's so fun to collaborate with people who are on the same wavelength.
Which is why every step of the way and every decision I make is informed by the community. Would they enjoy it? Would we enjoy doing it together? Could they help make this better? And all kinds of questions like that.
So after I did my "let's make it fun again" exercise last week, I decided that creative challenges were perfect for the community, but then how could I collect them in a way that is fun for everyone and easier for me? The answer came crystal clear - again! - the members would come up with the challenges and we would put them in a booklet, and then do the challenges together, all 15 of them.
The spirit of the Rebel Community is - let's do it together and make it fun!
It took exactly 14 people, 5 days, and 1 VA (thanks Meg!) to put everything together and create what we fondly call The Creative Challenge booklet (on the right). And we have already started doing the challenges in the community!
This is a reminder that we don't need to do things alone; collaboration is always more fun, and community makes a brand much stronger than it ever could be on its own.
Not to mention what it does to a creative business.
And here are the lovely rebels who contributed to the booklet.
While the booklet is "done" for the moment, we would love to create a 2.0 version soon, so start racking your brain for the funnest, most rebellious, and a little bit evil "creative challenge" you can think of, and email it over to us asap.
Some of the challenges:
- make things with your hands
- thank people who have inspired you or helped you in some way
- use a different creative medium for a week
- spend an entire day screen-free
- and 11 more
Don't they sound fun and scary? (We started with thanking people!)
I have had great fun putting this together and I am looking forward to many more collaborations in the future. I hope that you will join us because I just know you have so much rebellion inside of you, it's bursting to come out.
Rebel on, my friend!
